The main objective of the society will be: -

1.To serve the elderly persons of this organized sector, workers of Jay Engineering Works Ltd.

2.To identify them and to tabulate their social, financial, physical and psychological situation.

3.To provide medical health and guidance to adjust with aging process.

4.To involve and activate them to participate in the social activities of his locality and community.

5.To rehabilitate the elderly person physically and psychologically by the continuous expert counseling as per the individual demand and need

Apart from the above-mentioned individual service to the elderly persons the family members also should be taken into confidence so that this limited objective of this mission can be sustainable implemented.
If the endeavor gets momentum then attention of the local bodies and Government may be drawn for further development of this center.

TASK

This endeavor requires a group of dedicated of dedicated volunteers and social workers to be the vanguard to carry the mission from individual to individual, from family to the society by way of developing awareness through various media and personal visits. This intention to establish a nucleus with limited purpose to start with although keeping in mind the vast magnitude and multiplicity of the increasing problem where life expectancy is 62 years as per 1991 census and number of elderly persons in 2001 are 85 million. This is a real hard task to implement but at the same time a real task to work on if we have any genuine feeling for the aged persons and social commitment as a noble citizen of India.

To implement this project a society should be formed under the name and style, as decided, Bethune Institute of Geriatrics Research & Rehabilitation Center, registered under West Bengal Societies Registration act. XXVI of 1961.
To reconstruct and renovate the present building of Jay Engineering Workers Union for the purpose of the society and circulated the matter to the persons concerned under this project and to initiate a discussion with them and their family members.
To invited members from the general public and institute a simple survey about their financial, social and health situation. A simple questionnaire can be prepared for the purpose. The society now can take active initiation to regular health check up programs from the most needy person and approach the pathological and diagnostic centers for a concession to prepare a proper health report of the individual patient and give a docket number for future reference. The patients who require prolonged treatment and hospitalization can come under medical insurance policy cover initiated by the Institute. A list of consultants, doctors and hospitals can also be though of Terms & condi9tions of the services mainly financial are to be formulated for the purpose.
